Self-aligned hybrid carrier-based PWM for modular multilevel converters

The self-aligned hybrid carrier-based pulse-width modulation (PWM) for modular multilevel converters (MMC) based on decentralized control is proposed in this paper. It parallel cells a submodule (SM) using PWM, which combines the concept of level-shifted PWM (LSC-PWM) and phase-shifted (PSC-PWM) methods. By implementing system digitally, carriers align themselves. Each SM interacts with other SMs each cell an communicates to generate carriers. strategy makes advantage redundancy idea by adding or removing case malfunction reconfiguration. A current balancing method incorporated into ensure balance among SM. simulation results illustrate effectiveness presented piecewise linear electrical circuit (PLECS) software.
